Since our humble beginnings, Mary’s Meals, named after Mary the Mother of Jesus, has been built on a foundation of prayer and the many little acts of love from those who support us. 

This May, the month traditionally dedicated to Our Lady, we invite you to join us in prayer to celebrate the wonderful work of Mary’s Meals and give thanks that we are now reaching more than 1.8 million children with a nutritious meal in 19 countries every school day. We also pray for God’s continued blessing on our beautiful mission, that through His providence it will always flourish, enabling us to reach more hungry children.

You could offer your prayerful support in a number of ways such as: including a bidding prayer for Mary’s Meals at Mass, praying the Rosary for our work or hosting a Holy Hour.

You will find inspirational resources for our Pray In May campaign, including our prayer card, on our website or do get in touch if you would like to arrange a talk for your church about our work.

On hearing the sad news of the announcement of the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, Archbishop John issued the following statement:
 

On behalf of the Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Southwark, I wish to express my profound sorrow at the news of the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. 
 
In union with the entire nation, we mourn the loss of not only an esteemed and respected member of the Royal Family, but also a man who exemplified the very best qualities of courage, fortitude and loyalty. Although born into a very different world, his example and witness leave us, here in this present age, with a lasting and enduring legacy of the timeless paradigm of duty and service.  
 
In this season of Eastertide, when we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and his victory over death, we pray that His Royal Highness will rest in peace and rise in glory. We also remember in our prayers Her Majesty the Queen and all members of the Royal Family at this sad time, offering to them our sincerest condolences.

Joan’s Funeral will be held at St Joseph’s on Tuesday 27th April at 11.30am, by invitation only. For those who would like to pay their respects online, the Funeral will be live-streamed. Follow by clicking here.

Huge congratulations go to our own RAPHAEL MAURIN & DANIEL ALMEIDA, who were nominated by the parish for the above award earlier this year, and were successful in winning it!  

Last Wednesday, Raphaël & Daniel attended a short private ceremony in the grounds of Kingston Guildhall, to receive this Award from Her Worshipful The Mayor Councillor Margaret Thompson.

These two young men were nominated for their tireless work in our parish, especially during the past year, for their incentive and proactivity with setting up live-streaming, booking system etc, for their giving up of their valuable time to be there to support The Parish Office, Catechesis, Parish Pastoral Council, Music, the Safe Re-opening of the Church, and the comfort of all parishioners attending Mass at St Joseph’s.  I think everyone will agree that this Award was never more richly deserved.
