Parish mission help

We need your support to ensure our Parish Mission is a success! There are many simple ways in which you can help. If everyone could give just an hour of their time, it would make a huge difference.

Tea/coffee

If you could help serve tea/coffee after Masses and evening services during the Mission fortnight 14-29 April, please let us know.

We particularly need volunteers at the following times:
– after the 11.30am and 5.30pm Masses on Sunday 15th April and Sunday 22nd April
– after the 10am weekday Masses on Monday 23rd April to Friday 27th April
– after the Mission evening services on Monday 23rd April to Friday 27th April
– after the 9.30am Mass on Sunday 29th

Lifts for parishioners

There are many parishioners who would like to participate in the Mission but cannot do so without a lift. Could you help bring someone to church during the Mission? If you can offer a lift to someone living near you, or if you or someone you know would like a lift, please contact us.

We particularly need help bringing parishioners to the following Masses/events:
– Mass with Anointing at 11am on Saturday 28th April
– 7.30pm evening services from Monday 23rd-Friday 27th April
– Parish Family Celebration on Sunday 29th April
– All weekday and weekend Masses Saturday 14th to Sunday 29th April

Decorating the Church

We would be grateful for volunteers to help decorate St Joseph’s throughout the Mission, particularly during the second week’s themed services.

Please contact us if you can help.

Many thanks

Parish mission this weekend

Having just celebrated Easter, it is appropriate that the theme of our Mission is ‘A New Vision of Your Glory’.

The first Easter changed everything: what was thought by the followers of Jesus to be the disaster of the Crucifixion, turned out to be God’s greatest gift to humankind, a sign of immense love, and a revelation of hope and joy for all time to come.

Please come to join us during the two weeks of the Mission as, led by the Sion Community, we explore, deepen and celebrate our faith in the Risen Lord. The mission is for everyone in the parish – young and old, those who attend regularly, occasional visitors and those who may not have set foot in the church for some years. The mission is a time of grace when if we make the effort to open ourselves to hear God’s Word, we will never fail to be surprised, delighted, comforted, encouraged and welcomed.

Parish Mission

Come and explore your faith

Parish mission

The Mission is for everyone in the parish – young and old, those who attend regularly, occasional visitors and those who might not have set foot in the church for some years.

The Mission is an amazing opportunity to develop or rediscover our faith as individuals, as families, as part of a worshipping community and in wider society. It will be run over two weeks from 14 – 29 April by the Sion Community for Evangelisation.

There will be a special youth event, a Mass for the sick and housebound, a week of evening services, each with a different focus, and the Mission concludes with a parish family party with lunch on the final Sunday.

The Mission is a time of grace when if we make the effort to open ourselves to hear God’s Word, we will never fail to be surprised, delighted, comforted, encouraged and welcomed.

The last time we had a Mission was 18 years ago so they don’t come round very often! Don’t miss it this time.

You’ll be amazed.

Parish Mission Prayer

Heavenly Father pour out you Holy Spirit upon our Parish of St Joseph’s,

so that we may form a closer relationship with your son Jesus.

Grant us a new vision of your Glory, a new experience of your Power,

A new faithfulness to your Word,

A new consecration to your Service and a real knowledge of you.

Open our hearts to the need and the suffering so that together,

We might radiate the living Christ.

May your love grow among us so that we will develop a joyful

community of faith her in New Malden.

Through Christ our Lord.

AMEN

The Case for Christ

The Case for Christ” (PG, 113mins) opened at Kingston Odeon on Friday 15 September .

It is showing at 7.50pm every evening to Thursday details are on the Odeon website.

The Case for Christ tells the story of atheist and Chicago Tribune journalist Lee Strobel who felt he had lost his wife when she became a Christian.  It re-enacts his search to find out whether what she believed is true.  Lee subsequently became a pastor of Willow Creek church in Illinois.

I hope the film serves to strengthen many people in their faith and to encourage sceptics to consider for themselves the case for Christ.

Every blessing
