Extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist

On the 28 January at Southwark Cathedral six members of St Joseph’s were commissioned as extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist at a Mass in St George’s Cathedral Southwark said by Bishop Paul Hendricks, with the help of Vicar General Matthew Dickens. Congratulations to Francesca Almeida, Marisa Baumgarten, Catriona Maher, Cath Heery, Veronica Isorna and Grace Manning.

Parish priest

Father Uche Njoku joined St Joseph’s as parish priest in September 2016. Born in Nigeria on 13 July 1967 he joined the Holy Ghost Fathers at the age of 16 and was ordained a priest on 23 July 1994. He worked in Guinea Conarky as a missionary for nine years before coming to England in 2005. Between 2005 and 2006 he studied for a Masters degree in Justice and Peace at the Missionary Institute London, Middlesex University. From January 2007 to June 2007 he was Assistant Priest at St Peter the Apostle Chruch, Leamington Spa. From June 2007 to January 2012 he was Parish Priest at St Philip Neri Church, Smethwick and Priest Chaplin at St Paul’s School for Girls, Edgbaston, in the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
From April 2012 to November 2015 Father Uche was Parish Priest at Our Lady of Grace Church, Charlton. In September 2015 he applied to the Archdiocese of Southwark for Incardnation. In March 2016 he was appointed Parochial Administrator of St John Fisher Church, Merton and on 13 June 2016 he was Incardinated into the Archdiocese of Southwark.fr-uche

With more than 1,000 parishioners at Sunday Masses, and around 70 parish groups, St Joseph’s is a vibrant and varied parish, serving Catholics of every age, interest and background.
If you’re new to the parish, or just interested in Catholicism, why not come to
Sunday Mass at 9.30am, 11.30am and 5.30pm or  Saturday at 6pm. 

You are guaranteed a warm welcome. Then come and meet others over coffee (between the 9.30am & 11.30am Masses), and introduce yourself to Father Uche or Deacon John-Simon. Everyone is welcome.
